How to Install Protective Film on Trucks
The answer to this question varies depending on the type of surface the film is being applied to and the type of film being used.
Clear Defend utilizes a simple and effective method that requires no prior experience. Our products are installed using water, dish soap, and a squeegee that works perfectly with the films we use. All products come pre-cut and numbered, along with an installation guide for easy application.
The traditional method of applying protective film to trucks involves taking the entire truck to a professional who applies the film by hand, scraping, cutting, and heat-shrinking it into place. This is a true craft. All Clear Defend products are developed by the founder, who has many years of experience in vehicle wrapping. Each product is tested, evaluated, and adjusted before being sold.
Clear Defend products are so easy to install that truck owners can do it themselves at home. At the same time, the products are of such high quality that even professional wrappers have used Clear Defend products to streamline their work.
Companies that have worked with film for several years have contacted us, expressing how easy and convenient they find Clear Defend products.
Step-by-Step: Installing Clear Defend Protective Film on Your Truck
A. Take out your sheet of pre-cut pieces. Choose the piece you want to install.
B. Take the spray bottle with the application fluid and spray generously:
C. Remove the chosen piece from the sheet and now spray the adhesive side generously as well. Place the film on your truck according to the installation guide.
IMPORTANT! Be careful to position the film correctly from the start. The film can be repositioned until you begin squeegeeing out the fluid behind it. If you remove the film after you have squeegeed out the fluid, there is a risk of the adhesive detaching or fingerprints sticking, which impairs the film's adhesion.
D. Take the squeegee and hold the film in place with your other hand so that it does not move while you squeegee out the fluid. Squeegee out all the fluid with the squeegee and your fingers if necessary. Start from the center and work outwards.
If the surface you are applying to is curved, you may need to heat the film slightly with a heat gun (max 90°C) so that it better conforms to the surface. Squeegee out the fluid behind the heated film.
E. Repeat steps A-E for the remaining door sill protectors.
After you have installed all the parts:
F. Wipe all parts with a dry cloth.
G. Briefly heat the edges around all the film pieces with a heat gun (max 90°C). Follow with your finger and press down the film edge for best adhesion.
Your vehicle is now protected!
